ingredients & research

key ingredients:

Squalane – A super nice and stable oily liquid that occurs naturally in the sebum of the human skin. It's a superb moisturizer making the skin silky smooth, without being heavy or greasy. It's pretty much compatible with all skin types and skin conditions, incl. acne-prone skin.

Lipids (Jojoba Oil/Macadamia Seed Oil Esters, Phytosteryl Macadamiate, Phytosterols, Squalene)  –  Jojoba, macadamia and olive oil-derived, patented lipid mixture that mimics the surface lipid composition of healthy, young adult skin. Used at 3%, it is clinically proven to help barrier repair and skin hydration. It works in synergy with Ceramide 2.

Ceramide 2 – Also known as Ceramide NG, is one of the 9 types of ceramides that can be found naturally in the upper layer of the skin. Ceramides are super important molecules in keeping the barrier healthy and the skin hydrated

Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract (standardized to 90% polyphenols) - Green tea polyphenols are one of the most researched natural ingredients proven to have potent antioxidant, UV protecting and soothing properties.

Bisabolol + Allantoin - Two classic skincare ingredients known for their skin soothing abilities.

Saccharide Isomerate - A skin-idententical carbohydrate molecule that binds to the skin like magnet and gives long-lasting hydration.

Feels amazing and my skin is loving it!

I am 54 years old and often get compliments when my 29 year old daughter and I are together that we look like sisters. I've used Origins skincare for the past 20 years, maybe more. I also don't eat sugar, but that's another story! Anyway, Origins is SO expensive, and lately I've been noticing lines between my eyebrows and my mouth so I thought it was time to do some research and make a change. I was looking for a retinol cream and came across G&G and thought I would give it a go. Europe has better standards than USA and Canada for skincare products and the folks at G&G seemed like people I would like to have over for dinner. I ordered the Happier Barrier Cream and the Power Peptides for daytime, and the A-Game retinol serum which I put under my castor oil for night time. The three products arrived quickly and cost much less than just one of my Origins products even with the exchange rate, the shipping and the customs fees. And they work!!! My skin feels amazing, and while it is still early I think my marionette lines are reducing. There are no irritating fragrances and the products go on like silk. I would highly recommend these and will be purchasing again for sure.

Happy barrier, disappointing "PILLING"

Unfortunately this moisturizer "pills" terribly!! In an answer to a past review (2023) I read "The hardened/grainy pieces you describe are the crystallization of an ingredient caused by cold shipping/storge conditions. It was a production error in one of the first batches that is since resolved and should not happen any more." ..UNFORTUNATELY IT CONTINUES TO HAPPEN.

The Geek & Gorgeous 101 Happier Barrier Moisturiser

The Geek & Gorgeous 101 Happier Barrier Moisturiser is a standout product for those seeking to maintain and restore their skin's natural barrier. Formulated with a 7% concentration of squalane, it effectively locks in moisture, leaving the skin feeling silky soft without a greasy residue. The addition of a 3% lipid mixture, working synergistically with 0.1% pure ceramide, promotes a strengthened and healthy skin barrier. Furthermore, the inclusion of high-quality green tea extract provides antioxidant and soothing properties, ensuring that my skin remains calm and balanced. Free from fragrance, colorants, gluten, and alcohol, this moisturizer is suitable for a variety of skin types. Its lightweight yet nourishing formula makes it an excellent choice for my skin. And most importantly for me is that its cruelty-free, as are all the ingredients.

Finally Found My Holy Grail

I absolutely love everything about this cream. The way it glides on, the way it absorbs, the way it makes my very dry skin feel. This winter has been brutal for my face (and hands!), and Happier Barrier has come to the rescue! Like others, I wish it came available in a bigger size, but I do appreciate the transport-ability of the smaller size as well, I have several throughout my house and one in my bag - so it's always available when I need it (I use it for my hands every now and then, too!)!
