Good to know: This product is for experienced retinoid users. If you are just starting out, we recommend A-Game 5, our mid-strength retinal serum

description

Retinal is the "big brother" molecule of the better known anti-aging superstar, retinol. While retinol needs two metabolic conversion steps to reach the active form, retinoic acid (aka  tretinoin), retinal is the direct precursor only one conversion step away from the active form the skin cells understand. It is estimated that retinal can convert more than 10x faster to retinoic acid than retinol, making retinal an outstandingly effective member of the retinoid family (vitamin A family).

Once converted, retinal helps the skin cells to produce more collagen and other structural elements, making the skin more youthful, firm and elastic. It also speeds up the renewal process of the upper skin layers making it smoother and more even. A-Game is a smart-aging must-have, but it is also useful as an adjacent product for fading pigmention, as well as helping acne-prone skin.

In terms of strength and knowledge, we would compare our 0.1% retinal serum to a high-strength retinol product (typically in the 0.5-1% range), but with less irritation potential and possibly quicker results.

Who is it for?

We recommend this product, if you have already used our A-Game 5, loved it and you feel that your skin is ready for the next level. In terms of texture, this product is more comfortable for combination and oily skin.

Skin Type
ideal for combination, oily skin
Skin Problem
smart-aging, wrinkles, loss of firmness, pigmentation
Texture
bright yellow, silky and light emulsion

how to use it?

Apply a pea sized amount to the face in the PM. In your evening routine, apply liquid and gel-type products first (for example a toner, or our other serums such as HA 5 or B-Bomb), then A-Game. Follow with a moisturizer. Wear a sunscreen of SPF 30 or greater in the morning.

If you are using A-Game 10 for the first time, phase in application starting at 2-3 times per week for two weeks. If well-tolerated, move up to every other evening in two weeks and finally - if your skin tolerates it - every night. Do not use around the eye area.

Do not use if pregnant. Topical use of retinoids during breastfeeding is considered low risk, however, please consult your physician first.

Good to know: A-Game has a bright yellow color due to the retinal in it. Based on our experience, it dissipates on the skin and does not leave a yellow tint on surfaces.

Shelf life: 18 months from production (unopened), 6 months PAO (period after opening)

Maybe a bit too early to evaluate fully but it seems to work for sun damaged skin

50 old dude here.

I've suffered from photoaged skin for years that made me stressed everytime whenever I saw myself in the mirror
especially when the light shone from the side.
The wrinkles were so apparent.
Background ;
Starting late teens to mid 20-ish I've spent countless and countless hours in tanning beds. Sigh. Now I am paying back for the stupidity.
About 2 decades later my face started to show small but many many noticable wrinkles, wrinkles that were sort of
lined up together similar to what it would look like if somebody scraped the soil with a rake - the typical
signs of photo ageing.

I've read up on retinol in the past and tried it out once or twice but stopped when my face started to flake and become red.
But recently after watching some cool derms speak about retinol on Youtube I decided I'd try it again. I started with a regular
retinOl serum, applied it few times a week over a course of one month. Then I bought GG 101 retinal 0,1%, and used it before bedtime every day. And now, after one month, I see detectable changes in quality of the wrinkles. They are still there but not as deep. Some of the small wrinkles I had on my chin are
basically gone. The many many small wrinkles on my cheeks are less apparent. Eye area - no changes there yet.

So it seems to me GG Retinal 0,1% works!

I didn't flake or peel so much because of the prior use of retinol.
I'm excited to see the benefits and results after long term use, e.g. 6 months and beyond.

I'll be updating the review from time to time.

My fav

My fav facial care product, started with the 5 and just moved to the 10 without issue. Does it work with natural aging? Who knows, but it leaves my skin feeling fabulous. The courier price—hopefully the new UK website will remedy—was outrageous though, taking a brilliantly priced product onto the lux treat shelf. If the courier price has come down, I will defo buy forever more.

Super star product

I've started using this product one month ago after two years of retinol. My skin adapted very easily to the 0,1% that I am using nearly every night. I introduced the 101 A Game using it every tow nights at first and my skin adapted very smoothly. I use it now every night and I can already notice some skin improvement despite being in my routine since one month only. Great product at very good price point.

I've started my retinoid journey approximately 3 years ago. For over a year, I experimented with different retinol products and even a retinal from a well-known brand. Besides these being super expensive, I dealt with the skin purging (especially on my neck) By pure accident I discovered G&G products. I liked the price and the packaging and decided to give them a try. I started with A-Game 5 first. However, I soon noticed that my skin was able to tolerate higher strength due to the allantoin and panthenol present in these products. I started using it daily on my neck too. Since then, I never looked back - and I sincerely doubt I ever will! A-Game 10 is a must in my skincare routine and helped my skin look better now (I'm 35) than in my twenties! Highly recommend it and am super happy that I was lucky enough to find out about it by pure accident!
